SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and Online Marketing
Once you have the proper content, it needs to be placed correctly to win the best search rankings possible for the right search terms.
Search Engine Optimization is simply a fancy term that says you have to develop the proper approach to make sure that the search engines pick up the information on your site and rank it properly. This only speaks to part of the online marketing issue.
Remember, nothing happens today without someone first checking you out online. A proper online marketing approach should extend beyond securing high search engine rankings. You need to include every influential website where people might be search for your products. If you aren’t there, you don’t exist.
The previous point is especially true for B-to-B companies, since their targets are much more specific and the stakes are much higher.
There are several places on the Internet where you must be present: Google Plus Business Pages, Bing Business Pages, Yahoo Business Page,s Yahoo Business Listings, Facebook Fan Pages, Twitter, Pinterest, Linkedin and DMOZ. Everyone searches differently and these “must be there” and they are just the tip of the iceberg. (see attached addendum)
This doesn’t mean that you need to be spending all your time doing this or paying someone to do it for you. It just means that you need to have a presence.
